Before you see anything you will need to transfer some files to your folder. You can do this in the bottom of the apps tab of your iPad inside of iTunes. You can also transfer files from other programs to folder. For example, email yourself an mp3 file and then on your iPad tap and hold the mp3 file. It will come up with an option to send that file to your iPad.
My apologies, this is slightly confusing. It may not be obvious to know how to get started, I will address this soon with an update. Additionally I will be adding an edit button to delete files with, apparently swiping a line is confusing people who don't use swipe to delete in other applications. Thanks for the feedback!
I can see the title of my file in Folder on my ipad, but it will not open. When I select the file I get a screen that say "Open In... Folder" Can you help me?
If you only see "Folder" in the popup of a given file then there are no other applications on your iPad that can view that file. Folder doesn't directly show you your files it collects them in one place for you. What kind of file were you trying to open?
Hi FGU, From what I currently understand at least pages should work just fine. I have not tried numbers or keynote. See this link for apple's description, under "how do I bring documents into pages?" section of the pages FAQ.
The same thing that is happening in the "open in..." from email should also be happening from within folder.
Unfortunately the kindle app does not appear to receive files in it's current state. They have to fix this on their side. I have contacted them about azw files which have this same problem and am waiting to hear back from them.
In the meantime, to get documents into the kindle app you will need to set up your kindle email address in the kindle settings and then send your documents to that email. Then your documents will be available via the kindle app itself and can be re-downloaded.
I apologize, I wish this worked as I too have had this same issue with the kindle app. I hope that helps!
Thanks for this app. I find it excellent - once you have realised how it works. I can import Word, PowerPoint and exfel files into it and open them all with the Pages, Keynote and Numbers apps from Apple. Have not tried yet exporting them out after editing. But honestly, it is very simple and easy to use. Lots more potential too!
I think what you may want to look into is apple's notes app. The notes will sync with mail on OS X automatically I believe.
Folder will not allow you to take notes in the app itself. If you get notes into the app you could view them, but Folder isn't a text editor. It simply manages files, it doesn't create them. I hope that helps.
I bought this app and all I get is a white screen. It doesn't load.
ReplyDeleteI'm having the exact same problem. White screen, reboot doesn't help.

I bought Folder to open MOBI formatted files in Kindle. This does not seem to work. Any solution?

ReplyDeleteThanks Brian,
ReplyDeleteI hope to address the odd first impression soon. I'm glad that it's working well for you!
HI... I like the essence of this application for IPad. But, I'm a little stuck.
ReplyDeleteI would use this to take notes while observing a class (I'm a principal) and then transfer the notes to my desktop for editing and submission.
I'm not sure how all this works and what are the best steps. Is there a user's guide?
Best
Roger.
